Voice for Democracy Newsletter of Californians for Electoral Reform Winter 2010 |
Thank You!We have made great progress in the past few years. San Francisco is using Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) every election, and very successfully. We are poised for great advances in Alameda County (see the other lead article). We are making great progress in some of California's largest cities: Los Angeles, Long Beach and San Jose. What's more, state lawmakers have introduced legislation to allow counties to use IRV for special state and congressional elections (see this article). We are getting excellent bills further and further in the legislature -- once to the governor's desk. We want to thank you for everything you've done to help us succeed. Everyone does what they can, and every contribution is important. Some people keep their membership current. Some people participate in the sustainer program, making a monthly or quarterly donation. Some people make a point of talking about IRV and PR informally with people and organizations. Some people help out on Calls To Action. Some people help their local chapters in tabling, calling organizations for speaking, etc. Some people are key activists who spend a lot of time and effort, and are our leaders and organizers in CfER. Doing ANY of these things is great! We have strong momentum and continue to make great progress towards winning IRV and proportional representation. We thank you very much for whatever you have been able to do.
